Jewish, Muslim & Christian Boys Do Trialogue – Weds 2nd April, 2008
Groups of boys from Immanuel College, Brondesbury Boys School and Archbishop Tennison School got together for an afternoon getting to know each other and exploring their faith identity. The event was hosted at Archbishop Tennison school which overlooks the Oval cricket ground. The boys discussed the environment and how the Abrahamic faiths view environmental responsibility. The event will be followed by a environmentally themed social action day after exams when the boys will get together again to clear up a park or do an awareness raising project together.
Azhar Academy & Maria Fidelis Girls are 3ff Ambassadors – Fri 28th March, 2008

3ff has launched its ‘Faith Schools Ambassadors Linking’ programme by bringing together upper-school Muslim and Christian girls from Azhar Academy and Maria Fidelis girls' schools. The girls explored ideas that were sacred to each of them, and examined the idea of "Freedom of Choice" as an integral part of the Abrahamic faiths. The afternoon was packed with dialogue and digging as the girls planted flowers together in the garden of St Ethelburga's Centre for Peace & Reconciliation at the end of the session. St Ethelburga's will look after the plants for the girls while they grow, and once they flower they will be planted at the two schools.
Drumming UP a storm: The Undergraduate ParliaMentors Social - Thurs 13th March, 2008

St Ethelburga's Centre for Peace and Reconciliation played host to an evening of global entertainments for students on the 3ff UP Programme. Participants enjoyed a meal of Indian delicacies, before ajourning to the centre's sumptuous Moroccan-style tent for a workshop in African and South American drumming. Even the leaders of the future have to let their hair down once in a while...
One Rabbi and His Dog at the Three Faiths Office - Tues 11th March, 2008
Even as the newspapers reported gale-force winds and the police advised the public to stay indoors, Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg and his dog Mitzpah embarked (no pun intended) on a 100 mile walk around London to raise awareness and funds for the work of the New North London Synagogue, as well as a number of organisations and projects. They also planned to stop at locations which have been important in the Rabbi's life.
We were honoured that Rabbi Wittenberg and his dog Mitzpah chose to visit the 3ff offices as one of the stops on their way. Mitzpah enjoyed some well-deserved doggy treats and made himself right at home in our comfy 3ff armchair, while the Rabbi led a baklava-fuelled dialogue on the theme of "Pilgrimage" and answered questions in a short "Ask the Rabbi" session. The morning was brought to a close as attendees walked alongside Rabbi Wittenburg and Mitzpah to Kentish Town Road, and wished them well for the rest of their epic journey.
Muslim Boys Try-alogue at the British Library - Thurs 21 Feb, 2008
Participants on the Windsor Fellowshop Scheme engaged in an exciting and varied day of interfaith workshops at the British Library with 3ff. Having learned some key dialogue and conflict resolution skills in the morning, the Muslim boys, aged between 13-18, put them to good use in a "Tools 4 Trialogue" session on the theme of "Freedom of Choice."

The boys especially enjoyed the "Fishbowl Dialogue" role-play exercise - "I liked observing the role play because I understood it instantly and had no problems guessing who each character was!" - and talking to guest speakers Sam (Jewish) and Karsten (Christian) about their traditions - "I enjoyed asking questions the best...It was very good because I gained a lot of information."
Undergraduate ParliaMentors Launched in House of Commons - Thurs 31.01.08
The 3ff Youth Division proudly unveiled its first ever Undergraduate ParliaMentors programme, on which politics students of faith backgrounds will be mentored by MPs. The scheme was inaugurated by David Lammy MP (Minister for Skills at the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills).

Panellists including Daniel Finkelstein (Comment Editor at The Times), Olly Grender (Former Advisor to Paddy Ashdown) and William Higham (Head of Communications at Demos), challenged the first ever participants of the UP Programme to think about their role in the future political landscape.
The Undergraduate ParliaMentors Programme (or UP) is an initiative by the Three Faiths Forum to nurture future politicians and community leaders from the three Abrahamic Faiths. Nine MPs from all three major parties will each mentor a group of three students - one Christian, one Jewish and one Muslim, meeting with them on a monthly basis. With advice from their mentors, students will develop projects focussing on themes such as political engagement and identity, whilst supported by key political NGOs and think tanks.
David Lammy, Minister for Skills at the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills and MP for Tottenham, said of the project:
"I'm delighted to have been able to open the launch of this fantastic initiative, and I'd like to congratulate the Three Faiths Forum on their work. Having a sponsor or a mentor is one of the best way to get a real insight into public life, and I know that I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to those who were able to help guide me on my path to Parliament. Programmes like this can and do help to change the face of organisations, and by targetting the largest faith communities in our country, I believe that the Undergraduate ParliaMentors will establish a network to do just that."
With funding from the City Bridge Trust and the Pears Foundation, The Three Faiths Forum will be offering students this innovative programme on an ongoing basis, with the hope of extending its range of mentoring opportunities in future years. |
